Jacob Tagnan named a 2026 USGIF Doctoral Scholar

Jacob N. Tagnan, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography and a graduate research assistant with the Spatial Data Science Center (SDSC), has been selected as a Doctoral Scholar in the 2026 scholarship program of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

USGIF awarded scholarships to 24 students this cycle, spanning rising college freshmen through doctoral candidates. Three of those awards went to doctoral scholars. The program supports students working in geospatial intelligence and related disciplines, and has distributed more than $2 million to students at 153 colleges and universities since 2004.

Tagnan works with Mark W. Horner in the Department of Geography. The award recognizes his doctoral research and connects it to the wider GEOINT community that USGIF convenes.
